Welcome to Striker Sports & Social!

Our goal is to create a fun, competitive, and welcoming environment for players of all skill levels. These rules are designed to keep matches fair, safe, and enjoyable.

While Striker Sports & Social follows USA Volleyball (USAV) Beach Volleyball Rules whenever possible, some rules have been modified to better fit a recreational social league. If a situation is not covered in this rulebook, league staff will make the final decision.

Most importantly have fun, encourage one another, and help us create an awesome experience for everyone on the sand!

League Divisions

- Striker Sports & Social Sports & Social offers two divisions:

- Competitive (A)

- Recreational (BB)

Both divisions follow the same rules. The only difference is the expected level of play.

🏐 Game Format

- Each match consists of three games (sets).

- All three games are played. Matches are not best two out of three.

- Each game is played to 21 points using rally scoring.

- A team must win by 2 points.

- Games are capped at 25 points.

- Each game counts individually toward league standings.

- The serving team must clearly announce the score before every serve.

- Teams may switch sides every 7 points if both captains agree before or during the match.

Self-Officiating

- All matches are self-officiated.

- Players are expected to:

- Call violations honestly.

- Respect their opponents.

- Give opponents the benefit of the doubt on close plays.

- If a disagreement cannot be resolved after a reasonable discussion, the point should be replayed.

- League staff have final authority on all rule interpretations and disputes.

⚠️ Starting the Match

- Teams have a 5-minute grace period after the scheduled match start time.

- After the 5-minute grace period, the team that is ready to play will receive one point for every minute the opposing team is unable to field two players.

- Once the late team has two players present, the match will begin with the current score.

- Teams unable to field two players after 15 minutes will forfeit the match.

Example:
If Team A is ready to play and Team B arrives 8 minutes after the scheduled start time, Team A will begin the first game with a 3-0 lead.

- If a team forfeits two matches over the course of a single season, Striker Sports & Social reserves the right to remove that team from playoffs without refunding the entrance fee. We also hold the right to refuse entry to the next season.

🙋 Serving

- Serves may be made from anywhere behind the end line.

- Let serves (serves that contact the net and continue over) are legal.

- A served ball may not be blocked.

- Open-hand serve receive is not permitted. Serve receive follows USA Volleyball Beach rules.

- A service executed before both teams are ready, is canceled and repeated.

🚨 Ball Contact

- Each team is allowed three contacts to return the ball.

- The first block does not count as one of the team's three contacts.

- A player may not contact the ball twice in succession unless the first contact was a block.

- Players may legally contact the ball with any part of the body, including the feet.

🙌 Setting, Attacking, Blocking

- Hand sets are judged according to USA Volleyball Beach rules.

- A legal hand set requires the ball to contact both hands simultaneously.

- Sets are judged by the quality of the contact, not by the amount of spin on the ball.

- Spin alone does not make a set illegal.

- Open-hand tips or "dinks" are not permitted.

- Legal attacks include:

- Spikes

- Roll shots

- Pokeys

- Knuckle shots

- Other clean beach volleyball attacks permitted under USAV rules

- Blocking a served ball is not permitted.

- The first block does not count as a team contact.

- After blocking, the blocker may play the next ball.

Net & Center Line

- Players may not touch the net while playing the ball.

- Players may cross under the net provided they do not interfere with an opponent's play or create a safety hazard.

Rotation

- There are no court position rotations in 2v2 beach volleyball.

- Players alternate serving after their team wins back the serve.

Drop-In Players

- Drop-in players are only permitted if a team cannot field two players.

- Drop-in players must:

- Pay the required league drop- in fee ($10) before participating.

- Sign a league waiver before entering the match.

- Playoffs: Only rostered players are eligible to participate.

🏆 Playoffs and Finals

Best 2 of 3 sets wins!

If it goes to the 3rd set, it will go to 15 points.

Tie Breakers for playoffs:

- Head-to-head competition between tying teams.

- If still tied, it's records vs. 1st place team (or next highest team, if tied teams are tied for 1st) by winning percentage, regardless of number of games played.

- If still tied, record vs. next best team, etc.

These rules are still under review and may be revised for, but not limited to, purposes of clarity, fair play, or improvement of the competition.

Striker Sports & Social is committed to providing a fun, welcoming, and respectful environment for everyone.

Unsportsmanlike conduct, abusive language, harassment, or repeated arguments may result in disciplinary action.

Joining Striker Soccer has been one of the best decisions I've made! Whether you're just starting out or you're a seasoned player looking for serious competition, there's a place for you here. They offer a wide range of adult leagues that cater to all skill levels…from complete beginners to highly competitive players. The environment is always welcoming, supportive, and fun.

Honestly a must join league if you live in Central Florida and love sports (especially soccer). The administration team is extremely friendly and supportive, and the multiple divisions ensure everyone has fun regardless of skill-level. Feels like playing club soccer all over again!

Jaylen Hall

By far the best sports community in Central Florida. Soccer year round, beach volleyball, cornhole, summer camps for kids, and more! I have been a part of this community for almost 3 years now and I’ve made so many new friends and met some amazing people. Any skill levels are welcomed as well. Everything is just for fun with a little bit of a competitive touch to it. If I were you, I would definitely not pass up the opportunity to join this amazing community!
